WRITER’S GUIDELINES
Pauline Books & Media is the publishing house of the Daughters of St. Paul, an international congregation of women religious serving the Church with the communications media.
We publish books on spirituality (prayer/Scripture/spirituality of the saints/mariology), adult faith formation (including a Catholic approach to topics such as media literacy), the theology of the body, family life, lives of saints, prayerbooks, and teacher resources. (See separate guidelines for books for children.) Please go to our online store at www.pauline.org for examples of books in these categories.
We generally do not publish fiction for adults, memoirs, works of poetry, academic texts, or books of unapproved private revelations.
Manuscripts are evaluated on adherence to Gospel values, harmony with the Catholic tradition, openness to engage with popular culture, linguistic quality and style, and our editorial needs.
Please submit a proposal that includes your vision for the work, synopsis, outline/table of contents, intended audience, proposed length, and one or two sample chapters.
You may mail your submission to the address below, or e-mail your cover letter with proposal, samples chapters, etc., as attached Microsoft Word files.
If you mail your manuscript to us and would like it returned, you must provide an appropriately sized, self-addressed, stamped envelope with sufficient postage. If you do not need your material returned, you may simply provide an e-mail address for us to contact you.
We make every effort to respond to unsolicited manuscripts within three months.
