Let me introduce you to a very exciting aspect of Pauline Books and Media—our Pauline Center for Media Studies. Media literacy—or media mindfulness as the faith community often calls it—is an educational imperative for people of the 21st century. The director of our Pauline Center, Sr. Rose Pacatte, offers classes on the theory and practice of media literacy as related to popular culture, advertising, the Internet, and the history of film. This expertise constitutes an essential set of life skills for believers today—and especially for persons whose duty it is to hand on the faith, including parents, grandparents, priests, and religious educators.
Sr. Rose has hosted a number of spectacular events, such as Movie Bible Nights, National Film Retreats, a course entitled Cinema Divina: Shared Praxis and Prayer, and so much more.
Oh yes, she has a great blog which is mostly about movies but it is also a media potpourri that encompasses film, television, book and other reviews; the theology and spirituality of communication; information about media literacy education articles, activities and courses, and all things relevant.
