Releasing June 13th on the Roku Channel, Our Ladies Show leaves the viewer not only laughing out loud but reflecting on how to better one’s life and relationships.
Created and written by producer/writer/actress Christin Jezak (Miracle at Manchester, Raising Hope, Jimmy Kimmel Live!), Our Ladies Show brings inspiration through comedy sketches grouped around a theme. The series features seven episodes with topics everyone can relate to, including holding grudges, comparing ourselves to others, anxiety, and the importance of community.
Geared towards women, Jezak, together with her fellow cast members Hillary Hawkins (Primal, Nick Jr.’s Play Along, Gulah, Gulah Island) and Sarah Hernandez (Nefarious, Unplanned, House of Payne), aim not only for laughs but to encourage the audience to have honest conversations about the topics presented. Succeed they have.
Each episode begins with a monologue from one of the cast members introducing the theme and is followed by at least three sketches, including the award-winning Neighborhood Watch. At the end of each show, the cast members sit on the couch to talk about their own experiences. Their example of honesty and vulnerability in sharing their own struggles and hopes truly inspires. It’s like sitting around with a small group of close friends and talking about the stuff that really matters in our day-to-day lives. A downloadable discussion guide provides material for further reflection.
While not intended to be a “faith-based” show, Our Ladies Show does not shy away from using the sketches and following conversations to share the hope the show’s creators have found in their faith in God. The discussion guide includes a Scripture quote, prayer, and reflection questions for each episode.
