Pauline Books & Media Titles Recognized by Association of Catholic Publishers

BOSTON, MA, May 20, 2016: Two titles by Pauline Books & Media have been selected by the Association of Catholic Publishers for the 2016 Excellence in Publishing Awards, the Boston-based publisher announced today.

Oscar Romero: Prophet of Hope (Roberto Morozzo della Rocca) was recognized in the biography category, while Everybody Has a Body (Monica Ashour) won an award in the children’s category.

The goal of the awards is to recognize the best in Catholic publishing. “We’re delighted that two of our books have been selected this year,” says Sr. Mary Mark Wickenhiser, publisher. “Pauline Books & Media strives to provide books that challenge readers to delve deeper into their spiritual lives and think about faith in practice.”

“In the midst of this Year of Mercy, it is not surprising to see winners that focus on mercy and kindness explicitly,” says Therese Brown, executive director of the Association of Catholic Publishers. “What is truly interesting are the number of award-winning titles that illustrate those traits in the lives of ‘saints,’ some canonized and others not.”

Blessed Oscar Romero is one such figure. The authoritative biography by historian Roberto Morozzo della Rocca, who worked with the postulator for Oscar Romero’s cause for beatification, provides both credibility and authenticity in looking at the archbishop’s life while stripping away ideological agendas many have attached to him.

The award-winning children’s book, Everybody Has a Body: God Made Boys and Girls, discusses the similarities and differences between male and female bodies in a language that young children can understand. The book introduces children to the way gender contributes to the dignity of the human person.

The awards will be given out at the 20th Annual Catholic Marketing Network International Trade Show in Schaumburg, Illinois.
