When Kelsey Gillespy became a mom, she was an ESPN Academic All-American and an award-winning writer. But after having her first child, she discovered that motherhood was the hardest thing she had ever done. Now she has found that being a mom can be beautiful and fulfilling, albeit a little (okay, very) messy and chaotic. At any given moment, Kelsey can be found homeschooling her herd of children, exercising, or laughing out loud.
Kelsey writes straight from her daily experience. She believes that kids are not there to distract parents from God, but to bring them closer to God. “This vocation of parenthood was the one thing that could unite me with God.”
In her books In the Trenches: Finding God through Parenting Littles and Real Life with Mary: Growing in Virtue to Magnify the Lord, Gillespy uses the small experiences she has with her children to evangelize in such a way that moms can experience God through and from their parenting. In her writing and speaking, she does not hide the ups, downs, meltdowns, or tiredness that comes with being a parent. She believes that by looking through the eyes of our children, we can learn how we look at God, our Father.
She has recorded Rosary inspired by In the Trenches, and the Virtue Rosary | Real Life with Mary.
