Sister Anne Eileen was born and raised in rural upstate New York. She began to discern a vocation to religious life when at college and looked into a few congregations. After a subsequent year of clerical work, she applied to the Daughters of St. Paul, the community whose mission and spirituality most appealed to her. She entered in the late 1950s.
Even as a postulant she found herself involved in various aspects of the Pauline mission, including writing, editing, and evangelization, plus teaching classes in-house to high-school-age aspirants. Later she continued her education part-time while translating manuscripts, writing lives of saints and biblical personalities, contributing to the Way, Truth, and Life catechetical series, and editing a children’s magazine. The acquisition of an MA in theology was followed by teaching community members at the college level. In the late 1980s she was assigned to the first official editorial team and contributed to the Alive in Jesus catechetical series.
In 2002 Sister Anne Eileen was placed in charge of the development office. She wrote appeal letters and corresponded with donors for eighteen years. In 2020 she was re-assigned to the editorial department, where she happily copyedits and proofreads.
Her books include 57 Saints (a time-tested collection of narratives) and the award-winning Bible for Young Catholics. Together with other sister-writers, she has contributed to various compilations as well.
