Get to Know Sr. Maria Grace Dateno

Sister Maria Grace Dateno has been a Daughter of Saint Paul for over 35 years and is currently a children’s book editor at Pauline Books & Media, the publishing house ministry of her community. She acquires and edits fiction and nonfiction for young people—toddlers through teens. She is also part of the acquisitions team for adult titles. Her past editorial roles include adult acquisitions editor and children’s magazine editor.

Sister Grace has an MA in theology from The Catholic University of America. She has served as manager of the Pauline Books & Media Center in Alexandria, Virginia, and has assisted in several Pauline Books & Media Centers around the country, as well as in vocation work for her community, giving her a broad view of the needs of those served through religious publishing.

Originally from northern Virginia, Sister Grace has five siblings and twenty-five nieces and nephews, who have inspired her work with kids’ books.

Sister Grace is the author of the Gospel Time Trekkers series, which are time-travel adventures for ages six to nine. The series contains six volumes: Shepherds to the Rescue, Braving the Storm, Danger at Sea, Mystery of the Missing Jars, Courageous Quest, and Discovery at Dawn.

She is also the author of catechetical and devotional works for children (The Mass Explained for Kids, I Pray the Stations of the Cross, My First Missal) and for adults (The Mass Explained and Pray the Rosary).
