As Daughters of St. Paul, our mission is to communicate Christ in today’s world. Here in the New Orleans area, our Pauline Books & Media Center in Metairie is our home base for inviting God’s people into an encounter with his Word, whether at our book center, on the road through our evangelization and outreach team, or online through our digital ministries. Read more about our New Orleans-based ministries below, including local vocational discernment opportunities.

Since 1968, our Pauline Books & Media Center has been a trusted source for Catholic books and gifts in Louisiana. From Scripture and spirituality to sacramental gifts and handmade items by local Catholic artists, we aim to provide books and resources that will nourish every moment of your journey with Christ. Above all, it is our joy to accompany our patrons by offering personalized recommendations—and a listening ear.
What distinguishes us from traditional bookstores is the beating heart of our ministry: the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in our chapel, open to the public for prayer during book center hours.
We especially invite you to join us for Adoration on Thursdays from 10 am to 5 pm, and for Mass on Fridays at noon (Jan 15–May 31 and Sept 15–Dec 15 only).
We serve our local faith community through a rotating schedule of programming for all ages, including prayer events, vocational opportunities, retreats, talks, book signings, and our signature annual children’s events: the Risen Jesus Party (Easter) and the Baby Jesus Party (Christmas).
Our center also includes two meeting spaces: a conference room available for small events by Catholic groups for a suggested donation, and a room set aside for spiritual direction with directors from the area. For more information, please contact metairie@paulinemedia.com.
Just like our patron Saint Paul, our sisters are always on the road bringing the Good News to God’s people. We host book displays at parishes, schools, and conferences across the Gulf South. Our sisters also give presentations and talks, guide retreats, and lead parish missions on a wide variety of topics including Eucharistic spirituality, praying with the media, and vocational discernment.
To inquire about having a book display and/or inviting a sister to speak at your parish, school, or conference, contact our evangelization and outreach team.
The founder of the Daughters of St. Paul, Blessed James Alberione, always encouraged us to use the “fastest and most effective means” to bring the Gospel to the people of today. In our Metairie-based online outreach, we aim to harness the power of the Internet to bring people together in order to build up the Body of Christ.
To that end, we regularly offer virtual book studies that draw a vibrant community of local and national participants. These recurring short-term studies meet over Zoom. Past selections have focused on prayer, spirituality, and personal growth. For more information, please contact metairie@paulinemedia.com.
We also invite you to join us in prayer on Facebook Live. On weekday mornings, we offer our #Pause4Prayer series, a brief reflection on the daily Gospel followed by the Morning Offering prayer. On weekday evenings at 6pm, we livestream evening prayer from our chapel, inviting you to pray with us and share your prayer intentions with the sisters.
Our sisters regularly host opportunities for vocational discernment, providing a space for young women to find out more about religious life and pray about where God is calling them. To learn about opportunities near you or to speak with a sister about vocational discernment, get in touch with us. Know that we are praying for you!
Are you a lay person who is feeling called to share in the mission of proclaiming God’s Word through the media? We invite you to learn more about the Association of Pauline Cooperators. Contact us for information about how you can get involved.
